Circle Flow
Height 29cm Width 16cm Depth 10cm
This is one of the larger pieces in the collection. I was very happy about the way the broad terracotta brush stroke appears to overlap the outline of the rectangular form. This gives the circular shape more scale and prominence. The colours too work perfectly to suggest a feeling of sea, air and landscape. The area within the circle is covered with a blue transparent glossy glaze which contrasts in texture to the otherwise matt surface. The dark edge at the bottom is made with a iron rich dark sandstone that I find on the beach and grind up to make sand that I can sprinkle onto the surface of the clay.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
