Height 17cm Width 12cm Depth 8cm

This is a bit of a breakthrough piece for me. I’ve made pieces in the past that have stood on “legs” but in this one the legs are not just stuck on, instead they emerge out of the form, making them more visually connected. I also like the irregularity of these legs; the size, spacing and angle variations are very deliberate and suggest an older, eroding and organic historical structure. The balance of the marks work too; pushing the brighter red focal point to the very edge was definitely the right decision.

Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
