Iron Step
Height 12cm Width 16cm Depth 8cm
I like making forms that move away from having flat bases; the bottom corners are raised slightly in this piece which gives it an elevated and lighter visual feel. I like the contrasting tone between the light area and the darker terracotta (iron) edge. There is a little bit of yellow next to the terracotta colour that is subtle and there to give additional richness. The bottom edge has a glossy transparent glaze over it which contrasts with the otherwise matt surface.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
