Lost Numbers
Height 21.5cm Width 10.5cm Depth 5cm
I like exploring imbedding pieces of fired clay into the surface of the soft clay. Around the bottom edge of this one there are some pre-fired number tiles, a clear turquoise glaze has been applied over these which helps to emphasise their shape. The darker circular shape at the top has a blue line around it which has been made with an engobe pastel that I make. The piece was made by wrapping soft clay around a wooden block, this technique allows me to preserve the wonderful qualities of soft clay in the finished piece.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
