Pink Field

Height 14cm Width 16.5cm Depth 8cm

I always fire my pots at least twice, this one took 5 firings before it was finished. It was important for me to get the different tones of pink just right. I wanted it to be predominantly pink but 2 different shades of pink. I like how the lighter pink section is not just a shape painted onto the surface but is part of the structure of the piece emphasised by the step along the top edge. The “2” shape has been sprayed on through a stencil and is deliberately distorted by being back to front and stepped off the edge.

Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
