Red Window
Height 12cm Width 11cm Depth 10cm
I like the subtlety and simplicity of this one, and yet there is a great deal of richness and depth in the surface. The white area is not exactly white because of the wash of blue that is still visible underneath the white. There is an area of transparent glossy glaze on one side of this pot and underneath the glaze are some indented marks that add a characteristic tactile quality to the surface. The red glaze is an old favourite that requires its own additional firing to a lower temperature.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
