Ancient Field
Height 21cm Width 17.5cm Depth 10.5cm
I’ve been exploring this idea of cutting shapes from the form and replacing them with an additional strip of clay between the 2 sections. I’m always interested in the boundary lines that run across the landscape and the effect of making the piece in this way seems to add a more pronounced boundary around shapes (fields). Its another technique I use to blur the boundaries and integrate surface and form. There is an absence of white space in this piece that has been replaced with subtle shades of pink and green.
Slab built vessel with incised lines, engobes, underglaze, glaze and oxides. Fired to 1140°C
